African American women in Chicago are dying of breast cancer at twice the rate of white women. Five cancer survivors share from their hearts their personal experiences, providing insights on how they addressed commonly held beliefs about breast cancer. Designed to promote early detection thorough screening, this Telly Award winning film also offers hope for those diagnosed with breast cancer. Distributed by the American Cancer Society, the National Black Nurses Association, and the University of Illinois-Chicago School of Nursing, and shown at churches, beauty salons, community centers and gatherings nationwide. Eighty-five percent of women viewing the film said they were motivated to have a mammogram exam.
